There will be a high level MoU for trade promotion in Kenya and Rajasthan: Rajeev Arora

Under the leadership of Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation and Rajasthan Export Promotion Council President Rajeev Arora, who reached Kenya at the three-day Indo East Africa Trade Expo 2023, a team of state exporters met Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Moosaliya Mudavadi and higher officials. On this occasion, positive discussions were held between the two sides on the promotion of bilateral trade and the possibilities of investment in Kenya. Discussions were held between Rajeev Arora and Dr. Mudavadi on organizing Indo East Africa Expo every year in Nairobi, presentation by Kenyan delegation in Rajasthan and signing of high level MoU between Kenya and Rajasthan Export Promotion Council.

Bilateral trade between the two has reached $90 billion.

On this occasion, Rajeev Arora said that the relations between India and the continent of Africa have historically been interconnected. Bilateral trade between the two has reached $90 billion. Today, India’s exports account for more than 5.2 percent of Africa’s total global imports, while India’s share of exports from African countries to the world was seven percent in 2020.

Arora said that South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania are the top African countries where India exports the most. Petroleum products are the largest export from India to African countries. After these comes the number of medicines, vehicles and grains. Regarding the business relations between Rajasthan and Kenya, Rajeev Arora said that the business relations between Rajasthan and Kenya have special significance. There are immense possibilities of export of salt, sulphur, earth stone, plaster, lime and cement etc. from Rajasthan to Kenya. Kenya is of great importance to the region as a gateway to East Africa and a regional center of trade and commerce. Kenya imports goods worth about Rs 512 crore every year from Rajasthan alone, it is clear that Rajasthan plays a significant role in India’s trade relations with Kenya. Among East African countries, Kenya ranks first in importing from Rajasthan. Other East African countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Madagascar, Mozambique and Mauritius are also importing a significant amount of goods and services from Rajasthan. Arora further said that the Rajasthan Export Promotion Council is fully committed to the export promotion of the state. IC Aggarwal, Surjaram Mile, Dr. Sonveer Singh were prominently involved in this team led by Rajeev Arora.
